We brought visual interest and a sense of natural separation to this yard space between a main home and cottage. A new concrete retaining wall supports the main home’s raised yard area. Horizontal board Redwood fencing provides a rich backdrop, as well as practical built-in storage. Concrete pavers allow for placement of a cafe table and chairs. Rather than just creating a rectangle of concrete, the real visual interest comes from a corner of staggered artificial grass, with large boulder and rock edging. Along with plants framing the area and landscape lighting, this provides a softer border between the two homes and a more attractive view to look out at.
